Overall appearance, balance, gait and working abilities along with hunting instincts should be given more emphasis than any of the component parts in conformation of these dogs. They are primarily hunting dogs and should be shown in hard working condition. The most noticeable feature in these dogs is their dense and long coat, which is water repellent and allows the dogs to swim even in winter. The body of these dogs is well balanced, short coupled, deep through the heart, with long and well-sprung ribs. The gallery golden photo retriever will have dogs from both kennels and rescues.
